Building Certifications

Design and documentation for IGBC, GRIHA or LEED certifications for buildings.

Green building certifications assess and recognize buildings that meet specific sustainability requirements or standards. Monk Spaces guides projects through the intricate process of achieving these certifications through passive design development, active design optimization, energy modelling, life cycle assessment, project documentation, construction oversight, and coordination. Sustainable building initiatives can be encouraged through various green building certifications.

Monk Spaces assists in achieving compliance with the following  building certifications and standards:

  • IGBC: The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) is India’s premier certification body that offers a wide range of green building rating systems tailored to different building types and uses. It focuses on energy efficiency, water conservation, and environmental quality.
  • GRIHA: Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) is India’s national green building rating system, emphasizing local context, climate, and culture while evaluating energy, water, waste, and site selection to promote sustainable practices in Indian construction.
  • LEED: Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a globally recognized certification that evaluates building performance across various sustainability categories, including energy efficiency, water use, materials, and indoor air quality. Our guidance helps projects through the rigorous documentation and verification process required to achieve LEED certification at various levels, including Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum.
  • ECBC: The Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) is a crucial standard for promoting energy efficiency in commercial buildings. It applies to buildings with a connected load of 100 kW or greater and aims to lower energy requirements without compromising function or comfort. ECBC emphasizes passive design strategies, renewable energy integration, and life cycle cost considerations.
  • Eco-Niwas Samhita: The Eco-Niwas Samhita (ENS) is a code for energy conservation in residential buildings developed by India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). It provides guidelines and recommendations for passive design strategies, energy-efficient building envelopes, and integration of renewable energy systems to reduce the overall energy consumption in residential buildings. Monk Spaces helps clients adhere to the ENS code and incorporate its principles into their residential projects.

At Monk Spaces, our expertise lies in streamlining and facilitating the green building certification process for companies. Through the intricate steps, our guidance ensures compliance with the building certification standards.
